Almost a year…..

Posted by thehandsofditko on May 26, 2011

Its been a minute since I’ve done anything on here.    No need to explain as to why, but I really wanted to go an entire year before I started this back up….alas, my fingers have the need to type….

Alot has changed in the last year.   Due to some of those changes, I have deleted certain previous postings on this blog…..some things are best left a mystery at best….

All about some High Weirdness…..and let the high weirdness begin!!!

Rihanna, pt. 567,548

Its been a minute since I indulged myself in the obsessive visual treat of one Ms. Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Man…one word:

May the farce be with ya

Posted by thehandsofditko on July 16, 2010

As I may have stated previously, I am a child of the 70’s.   ‘Twas a wonderful time to be a youngster in a pre-internet, pre-MTV, pre-cell phone world.    I won’t go into the sematics of it all—just blindly take my word for it.

So in this glorious age of my childhood, something hit and hit big:  Star Wars.   It was a big deal.   Before it was taken out of the theater (The Eastwood was the theater on the eastside of Indy that ran it—a second home), my brother and I had—through a variety of companions, family and sheer will power—-saw Star Wars 27 times.

When the sequel came out (The Empire Strikes Back), it too was a big deal.   So was the next sequel, Return Of The Jedi…this stuff was all held in high esteem….almost holy….

So anyways:   I guess I am a Star Wars nerd.   I dont have any posters, toys, or anything on display.   I dont collect any Star Wars related things at all.   I havent watched the movies in a looong time.   I dont have any Star Wars tee shirts….none of that shit.     But I can tell you who 4-Lom is.   I do relish the memory of sending proofs of purchases in for the Boba Fett action figure.   I know what the sand people are REALLY named.    I even know that its not good to be called a nerf herder.

So, yeah:  nerd-dom.

So with a total respect for my childhood memories, I want to post the following.   I collected these off of some different sites and friends blogs and shit….and as stupid as it sounds, they really do make me smile and a few make me laugh out loud.

Beacause I’m a nerd.

Remember the old piece of shit show from the 70’s, Fantasy Island?    Where people boated off to this wondrous island hosted by Mister Rourke (Ricardo Montleton and his little alchoholic pal) and had their fantasy come true?

Granted, it was usually at a price and the people saw the error of their ways…..but I would pay many of those prices over and over again…just to be in the prescence of Ms Joy Moconda.

A pictoral visit of my way through downtown to see the firework celebration…

The Scottish Rite Cathedral

Some sort of weird sewage garden on Illionis….

Flying the colors!

How many dogs did it take to make this puddle of piddle?!!??

My favorite pizza joint downtown…

Monument Circle:   a great place to play chess with recovering crack heads (as I did exactly that 9 days ago)

The wind did significant damage to this building over the years

Flying the colors!, pt 2

Some sort of nasty, creepy-uncle/bad touch looking bear carving on a Monument Circle fountain.

Looking north on Meridian towards the circle…

I did have an awesome time with my friends I was with (I did not post any pics of them being that I always ask permission before I post pics of peeps on this accursed blog.   Facebook….thats another story, fools)

Philly and The Stooges

Posted by thehandsofditko on June 16, 2010

I finished reading the most awesome biography of Iggy Pop the other day….and there are some GREAT photographs of Iggy back in the Stooges days…one of Iggy as taken by famed rock photographer Mick Rock  struck me as somewhat familiar.   I couldnt place it until I talked Phil, and it hit me.   Its not exact, but its all about the rock and roll decadence, bitches:

Public Service Announcement: We are all gonna die….

Posted by thehandsofditko on June 10, 2010

….so lets start the party now!

Assuming we–as a planet—survive the new ferocity of the 2000 year old battle between Christianity and the Muslims…….and assuming that the Mayan calender stops in May 2012 NOT because of an impending doom to humanity, but due to the laziness of the dude that laid it all out, I bring you a NEW fear!       Read on, true believers—then go spend your money at the mall while you still can!    Do all those things you always wanted….just in case, y’know?

this is from another blog:

“Looks like disaster flicks aren’t too removed from reality since all this could well be the potential result of a gigantic solar storm, according to a new report by NASA. The report, a warning, says Earth and space are coming together in a way that’s new to human history.

A solar storm, which is essentially violent eruptions in the sun, can eject destructive radiation and charged particles into space.  These are closely connected to magnetic fields – which are hazardous for satellites and space stations.

There are reports of a geomagnetic storm sparked by a huge solar flare that swept over the Earth in 1859. Telegraph wires shorted out and set houses on fire. A brilliant aurora was seen in Hawaii—so bright that  “people could read newspapers by [its] red and green glow.” Scientists predict  that in May 2013, the sun’s solar cycle will peak at about the same level as in 1859. (This content courtesy a post on”

High-tech systems are critical for life as we know it today. Everything that we depend on and take for granted – air travel, GPS navigation, banking services (even a credit card transaction uses a satellite) and emergency radio communications – can all be knocked out by intense solar activity.

To get an idea of scale, a massive solar storm could result in 20 times more damage than the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina which hit south-eastern US in August 2005. The storm killed 1,800 people and caused damages worth $81 billion.
